A message from Victoria’s James Kirkpatrick and his team mates:

Hello Field Hockey fans and Red Caribou Supporters!

Now that Labour Day and a brief hockey rest is behind us your Men’s National Field Hockey Team (the Red Caribou) is back on the field and training hard for the 2018 Odisha Hockey World Cup in Bhubaneswar, India. It’s hard to believe it’s been over 14 months since we qualified for the World Cup with a memorable 3-2 win over India in London, England. After a training period here at home in September, we’re back on the road in October, traveling to New Zealand to play a series of matches against the Black Sticks before returning home for a few weeks of final training and preparation. Finally, on November 17th we’re heading east. We’ll be stopping off in Japan for a few days for a final training camp and test matches against the recently crowned Asian champions and 2020 Olympic hosts, before moving on to India. All that leads us to the opening match of the tournament on November 28th against Olympic Silver Medalists, Belgium.

We hope you’re as excited for the next few months as we are. We’re writing today in hopes that you’ll help us along on our journey. As was done in 2010 and 1998, we’re putting together a special edition Red Caribou World Cup t-shirt. It’s not uncommon to see an old version around the hockey pitch today, and we hope you’ll proudly wear your 2018 version during the tournament and for years to come.

Details:

This year’s shirt will feature our Red Caribou logo on the front along with ‘World Cup 2018’ and ‘Bhubaneswar, India’. The back of the shirt will say ‘Red Caribou’ and ‘Proud Supporter’ along with a long list of our supporters, which we hope will include you!

We are asking all Field Hockey fans in Canada as well as companies, clubs, schools, book clubs… anyone who loves the game to add their name to the back of the shirt as a way of showing who is supporting us in India. Whether you’re wearing your t-shirt in the stadium in Bhubaneswar or back home watching on tv… we’ll know you have our back.

Feel free to put your name, a message of support, your website, company name, whatever you want! Our only ask is that you limit your line to 15 characters.

Cost:

For $100, you can have your name/message on the back, along with a shirt for you to keep.

For $500, you can have you or your company’s name/logo displayed on the back of the shirt, as well as a souvenir shirt for you to keep.

We ask that everyone who is interested let us know by Oct 15 so we can start with printing and delivery.

Many thanks and all the best for your hockey season. Go Canada!
